Acts 20:24

We are getting close to race season and I am sure a lot of you, like me, are ready to hear the roar of the engines and smell the smells of local race tracks. We do not have to wait much longer. I have been thinking about one of my favorite verses. In Acts 20:24 it is written: I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace. What a great reminder that we are in a race to the end and it is the end that I think of often. I think of the excitement of winning a race and the guys who get on their cell phone right away to tell family, friends and fans.

A couple of months ago Manny and I went to the UW wrestling match against Northwestern and our heavyweight beat the number one guy in the country. We know Coach Davis and a couple of the guys on the team, so we went over and said hello. They were pumped up after the big win. We left and Manny and I had to call a couple guys about the big win and Massey’s upset.

As I was driving home I thought, “I need to be that excited about God and about Jesus Christ our Lord.” He won a bigger victory than that, even bigger than the first win a driver has at the track. So to follow up on that thought, I would remind each one of us that Jesus died on the cross for us and that He rose victoriously. All we have to do is agree that He is Lord and give Him His rightful place, first place!

I am thankful to God for what He has done and is doing in my life. He did not have to save me and allow me the great hope that I have. I hope you join me in that hope and join me in living for Him.

Can I get a witness?

Have a great day racin’ in the SONshine
