One of the cool moments in racing is the Victory Lane celebrations, as the winning driver jumps out of the car and gives thanks to the sponsors, team, and owners. On television, even after a wreck, drivers will do the same and also thank the safety workers. This is a sport where we need to be thankful for safety for every lap made without injury.
We have so much to be thankful for in this country. We have freedoms unlike anywhere. We have abundance, and even with the struggles of the marketplace right now, we have so much more than most. When we look around to other countries we see that clean water is not a given. Electricity is not a given. More than a bowl of rice or meal is not a given. Yet, we complain when we cannot have some fun, the newest thing to come out, or when we have to cut back. I cannot understand why God has blessed this country since we are far from a Christian nation.
Let me ask a couple questions:
- So are you thankful?
- Who are you thankful to?
- What are you thankful for?
Scripture says in 1 Chronicles 29:13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. And then in Psalm 7:17 I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
When we think about getting through a race season without injury, we have to be thankful. We have to find who to give thanks to? Is it the Lord God? It is God who protects us. The Scripture proclaims that the Lord is the one that gives us shelter and safeguard.
Happy Thanksgiving and have a great day racing in the SONshine,
