Championship Night

What a great night of racing! We race all season to get to this point and then to have several battles going down to the last race of the season and even one to the last lap is loads of fun. It was cool to talk to the guys and see how different each one was Friday.

Before I start I want to recognize Kevin (#33). We had just talked in the tower about how much improvement we’ve seen in Kevin and what a great job he’s done, getting his first win in the heat. Hope you are doing okay after the hard lick you took.

As I thought about Championship Night last week saw how close it was at the finish it reminded me that we too can be very close to Heaven and fall short, completely missing it in the end. You may ask, “How can that be?” Well, one way is to believe that good works will get us there. We can be kind, give money or time, even go to church, and miss the mark of salvation. We can not get to Heaven on the coattails of our parents or grandparents. No one else can pray us into heaven and we do not earn it.  We only get to Heaven by following what God says in the Bible. He says it clearly in Romans 10:9-10 (Confess Jesus is Lord and believe); Romans 10:13 (all who call on the name of the Lord Jesus will be saved); and in John 14:6 (no one comes to the Father except through Jesus). Only Jesus saves and we have to agree with Him and call out to Him. For many years I did not care about God or what He thought. Then when I did I thought being good and going to church would do it for me. Wrong. God is who He is. He has to be Lord of our lives. As I thought about Championship Night I starting praying hard for you guys that you would not miss that. I feel bad for Gille and Andrew, just missing it, being so VERY close. The tough thing in racing is there is only one champion. With God we can all be champs (2 Peter 3:9, all to come to repentance and be saved). So as we come to the end of the season sit back and enjoy it, but I hope and pray that you do it knowing if you were to die today, you would go to Heaven. Don’t miss it!
